Privacy
Effective 20 October 2026
bsvkey.com is run by Embryo Space Inc., doing business as BSVKey ("we"). This page covers the BSVKey app on the home page, the Name Market (/market), the pay page (/pay), Verify (/verify), Sign in with .key (/signin), the site builder's guide (/sites) and Comics (/comics). Gatherings and Paid DMs have their own privacy notice, and the BSVKey Names browser extension has its own policy.
The short version: there are no accounts, no cookies, no ads and no analytics. Your private key stays in your browser. What you write to the blockchain is public and permanent.
Your key never reaches us
- Keys are generated, loaded and used to sign transactions inside your browser tab. Private keys and recovery phrases are never sent to BSVKey or stored on any server we run.
- If you load a key file, it is read in your browser and never uploaded.
- If you connect a BSV wallet app on your own computer (for example Metanet Desktop), the page talks to it over your computer's local connection (
localhost). That traffic does not leave your machine.
What is public on the blockchain
Everything you write, publish, claim, list, buy or pay for is a Bitcoin BSV transaction: your address, the amounts, the time and the data you chose to write, including pages and names. Anyone can read these, forever, and we cannot change or delete them. Name Market sellers also write their sale offer on-chain.
What reaches our servers
- Contact form. If you use the form on the home page, we receive your name (optional) and your message. They are kept in our host's form service (Netlify Forms) so we can read and reply. Please never put a key or recovery phrase in a message.
- Name Market. When you list a name, your browser sends the half-signed sale offer and the listing transaction. These contain your address, the name and the price, all of which are also public on-chain. We keep current listings, a permanent archive of accepted offers, and a record of completed sales (name and transaction ID) in Netlify Blobs.
- Blockchain lookups and broadcasts. To check balances, read history and send your signed transactions, the page calls
/wocand/arcon bsvkey.com. These forward the request (an address, a transaction ID or a signed transaction) to WhatsOnChain and to GorillaPool's ARC service. Our forwarding code does not store or log what passes through it. - Hosting logs. Our host, Netlify, processes your IP address and request details to serve the site and may keep short-lived logs.
Third parties your browser talks to
- WhatsOnChain (a public Bitcoin BSV explorer): the app's lookups go through our proxy above, and the proxy does not pass on your IP address. Your browser contacts it directly when you open an explorer link, or when an on-chain page you view asks it for live data.
- GorillaPool ARC: receives your signed transactions (through our proxy) to put them on the network.
- GitHub Pages (
bsvkey.github.io): serves the public list of registered names. - open.er-api.com: exchange rates, so amounts can be shown in your currency. Nothing about you is sent beyond the request itself.
- thum.io: when the on-chain feed shows a preview of a web link someone posted, the linked address is sent to thum.io to make a thumbnail. Links that point straight to an image load from that image's own host. Previews are sent without a referrer.
- Links you click: the "Get BSV" links (Swapzone and SimpleSwap are paid referral links, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you), the faucet, Google Translate, the Chrome and Edge extension stores and other sites open those services under their own privacy policies. Nothing is sent to them until you click.
Sign in with .key
When another site asks you to sign in with your .key name, /signin signs a short statement with your key in your browser and hands the signed result back to that site. That site then learns your .key name, your address and the time you signed in. We do not receive or keep a copy.
Stored on your device
- No cookies and no tracking storage.
- Staying signed in: your public address and network are kept in
localStorageso pages know who you are. The key itself is kept only in this tab'ssessionStorage, and is removed when you lock or close the wallet, when the tab closes, or after 15 minutes without a click or key press. A recovery phrase is never stored. - Caches and settings in
localStorage: decoded transactions and feed data (to load faster next time), names you listed or are buying in this browser, and display choices such as wide layout and the leave-page warning. - Clear any of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
What we do not do
We do not sell or share your data, we do not build profiles, and we do not use it to train AI models.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept until we no longer need them to answer you. Name Market records are kept so listings and sales can be checked later; they repeat data that is already public on-chain. On-chain data is permanent and outside anyone's control.
Your choices and rights
You can use bsvkey.com without giving a name or email. To ask about, or to delete, a message you sent us, email us. Depending on where you live you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold; we will honor them for the data we actually hold. On-chain records cannot be changed or erased by anyone.
Children
bsvkey.com is not meant for anyone under 18.
